STORZ MEDICAL's DUOLITH® SD1 at the Beach Volleyball Tournament in Gstaad/Switzerland Beach volleyball - a sport on the up and up: the Grand Slam tournament in Gstaad (Switzerland) that took place from July 6-12 attracted the elite of international beach volleyball. During the tournament, the athletes were exclusively and successfully treated for pain with the STORZ MEDICAL DUOLITH® SD1. The renowned Swiss "Schulthess Clinic" provided the medical care at this major international event. The Senior Consultant in the Department of Sports Medicine, Dr. Kerstin Warnke, used the DUOLITH® SD1 "T-Top" with great success to treat athletes with both chronic and acute symptoms. Once again, the Grand Slam tournament in Gstaad was a milestone in this year's beach volleyball calendar of events. Against a backdrop of breathtaking mountain scenery, more than 60,000 spectators followed the sensational rallies of the world's best beach volleyball teams. The German athletes Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann added the men's title to the world title they had taken a week previously in Stavanger, Norway. Talita Antunes and Maria Antonelli won their first Grand Slam title in an all-Brazilian women's final. Innovative treatment of chronic pain Volleyball is considered a "dangerous" sport because the athlete's body is exposed to extreme physiological stress during training and competition. Chronic shoulder or back pain as well as ankle and knee joint pain are typical volleyball ailments. For orthopaedic specialists, shock wave therapy is an innovative and effective way of treating typical volleyball sports injuries. The "Schulthess Clinic", an Olympic Medical Centre and FIFA partner, has been using combined shock wave therapy for a long time and works successfully with the DUOLITH® SD1 "Tower", its device of choice during major sports events in Switzerland. Not a single athlete participating in the Gstaad tournament had to stop playing as a result of shoulder and back pain or ankle and knee joint strain, which can also be put down to the use of the STORZ MEDICAL DUOLITH® SD1.
Best performance: Combined shock wave therapy using the DUOLITH® SD1, for example during the Grand Slam tournament in Gstaad. |
