STORZ MEDICAL’s MASTERPULS® MP50 at the Dakar Rally 2009 The world’s toughest off road race, the Dakar Rally was held for the first time in South America this year. 530 racing teams from 49 countries met in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to compete in the legendary race. STORZ MEDICAL supported the Hardy Racing Team and their drivers, Jérôme Hardy und Frédéric Becart, for two exciting weeks.
One piece of equipment that was always aboard their Mitsubishi Pajero: the MASTERPULS® MP50. The medical device became an important factor of success and contributed to the team’s good position in the overall standings. Over the Andes, through the Atacama desert and across the Pampas: Covering almost 10.000 kilometers on difficult terrain, the rally poses an enormous challenge for the drivers and their teams. Driving on dirt roads and rocky ground for hundreds of kilometers each day put man and machine to the test. Excellent medical support in between the stages of the race is therefore crucial. The compact MASTERPULS® MP50 proved to be the perfect choice – the drivers and their teams were efficiently and successfully treated for pain. The most frequent symptoms were shoulder or neck pain as well as elbow pain. As a result of the treatments the drivers were able to focus on the essentials and mastered the 14 difficult stages of the Dakar Rally superbly. 80 TV channels broadcasted the Dakar Rally 2009 with the STORZ MEDICAL logo in 189 countries. |
