Prof. Dr. Karsten Knobloch will talk about the history of shock wave therapy – as it‘s been 40 years now since the first successful clinical application of shock wave lithotripsy (SWL) for kidney stone disintegration in February 1980 in Munich, Germany.

The areas of application include diseases of the musculoskeletal system such as lower back pain and tendinopathies of the rotator cuff or Achilles tendon. The non-invasive, outpatient therapy is virtually free of side effects.
