In our next webinar Prof. Dr Matthias Beck will talk about »The Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome«. The Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (GTPS) is related to the tendinopathy (tendinosis, partial- and full-thickness tears) of the muscles which inserts at the greater trochanter of the femur. In addition to these degenerative changes in the tendons inflammation of the synovial bursae could be a reason for the pain in the gluteal area which is elicited by rotational hip movements and lateral position.

Parkinson's disease: World's first clinical trial for shock wave treatment

In 2019 the NEUROLITH® shock wave system was successfully introduced to the market. The Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) device, which was developed by STORZ MEDICAL in Switzerland, is the only medical device marketed in Europe that is approved in the European Union for the treatment of the central nervous system of patients with Alzheimer's disease. The effect of TPS is now being investigated in another neurological condition: In September 2020, the world's first clinical study for the treatment of Parkinson's patients with shock wave therapy using real-time documentation started at MedUni Vienna (Department of Neurology) in Austria under the direction of Professor Roland Beisteiner.

On 25 September 2020, Dr Marie-Claire Rassweiler-Seyfried (University Hospital Mannheim, Department of Urology and Urosurgery, Mannheim/Germany) received the »Christian Chaussy Award 2020« for her research* on electrohydraulic high-frequency ESWL. Her research focus was the evaluation of kidney damage.
