This Letter to the Editor is just a short remark to a previously published article on SWL for bladder stones. In selected cases SWL of bladder stones is indeed an excellent option. The bottom-line is, however, that SWL for removal of bladder stones has to be balanced against the need to do something more efficient about the outflow obstruction. It is obvious from the report that bladder stones developed despite a long period of medical treatment of the obstruction.
