The author of this Editorial comment emphasizes the discrepancy between his own experience and the Chinese study by Liu. The question is whether chronic pancreatitis is a different disease in Asia than in Western countries. It is obvious that this question needs to be further analyzed in detail.
Reviewer comment: One factor that can give rise to different interpretations might be related to the difficulty to determine whether 90% of the original stone volume resides in the main pancreatic duct. That problem influences the result report.
