Exciting TPS contributions at the BrainSTIM Conference in Lisbon
STORZ MEDICAL participated in the »5th International Brain Stimulation Conference (BrainSTIM)« in Lisbon, Portugal, from 19 – 22 February with the NEUROLITH®. In addition to live demonstrations at the STORZ MEDICAL booth, several exciting presentations were given by key opinion leaders during the conference’s poster sessions.
The Brain Stimulation Conference, organized by Elsevier, is a cross-disciplinary meeting which provides a communication and meeting platform for scientists and clinicians to discuss current and possible advances in neuromodulation. The field of brain stimulation and neuromodulation continues to grow at an enormous pace.
Topics of the conference included:
- Combining brain stimulation methods with brain imaging
- Clinical neurological applications
- Cognitive and affective neuroscience
- Transcranial stimulation methods
One of the topics presented and discussed is Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) with the NEUROLITH® system. The NEUROLITH® is a CE-approved system for the treatment of patients with symptoms of Alzheimer's dementia. With TPS, sound pulses are transmitted – non-invasively – through the scalp and skullcap into the brain regions typically affected by Alzheimer's dementia.
During the BrainSTIM Conference, the NEUROLITH® attracted keen interest. Visitors were able to experience live demonstrations at the booth including the camera calibration and application of pulses. The integrated camera and software are a unique tool for visualizing the applied pulses in real time as well as for documentation.
The presentations of the key opinion leaders also received great attention with many questions and ideas. Among others, following posters were presented during the conference’s sessions:
»MRT-tracked TPS (transcranial pulse stimulation) – a new method of brain stimulation to ameliorate deficits in patients with Alzheimer’s disease«
Authors: Ulrich Sprick, Martin Köhne
»TPS with the NEUROLITH system as a method for treating the central nervous system of patients with Alzheimer's disease«
Authors: Daniel Clark, Vanessa Rößner-Ruff, Julia Krieger, Katrin Friedrich, Marc Ziegenbein
»Long-term real world data on Transcranial Pulse Stimulation in Alzheimer´s patients«
Authors: Celine Cont, Nathalie Stute, Anastasia Galli, Christina Schulte, Kazimierz Logmin, Lars Wojtecki
We look forward to more interesting conferences and trade shows with NEUROLITH®, TPS and the key opinion leaders this year.
