Acute pancreatitis as a consequence of SWL has previously been reported in occasional patients but is uncommon. The reviewer has not encountered this complication despite treatment experience from a large number of stones treated in the proximal ureter and kidney. Acute pancreatitis is also uncommon following SWL of pancreatic duct stones despite SW power directed towards the pancreatic head.
