For the German bobsleigh team the crucial phase of preparation for Sochi started in 2014 with the World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Dr Andreas Heinzinger of the Berlin-based Doc-Ortho team was responsible for the German national team's medical care. And the MASTERPULS® MP100 was always at hand.

In the Olympic cycle the focus is placed on the week of competitions during the games. This is when athletes should be able to achieve the best performance of the season. It is important not only to keep the level of fitness but to improve it. Here problems with muscles and tendons in the spinal area and the extremities are frequent.

This is the reason why we brought along the MASTERPULS® MP100 shock wave device. We wanted to be able to deal with athletes' medical problems as quickly as possible. Thus, 12 members of the athletic team received muscular treatment in the week from 5 – 12 January. 3 treatments of the lower extremities, 3 treatments of the spine, 2 of the upper extremities and 4 on various locations were effected. Treatment frequency varied between 1 and 5 shock wave applications per week. Pulse frequency, pressure and transmitter combinations as well as the number of pulses were different for each athlete.
