Radial shock wave therapy (R-SW) is an established, non-invasive treatment method in the musculoskeletal field. The key to successful therapy is choosing the right transmitter, tailored to clinical findings, treatment goals and tissue sensitivity.

Whether addressing tendinopathies, myofascial pain syndrome, or fascial restrictions, a targeted selection of the transmitter enables customised treatment tailored to the specific tissue structures.

At STORZ MEDICAL AG, we are constantly refining our transmitters in close collaboration with doctors and therapists. The result is a broad, practice-oriented product range that meets the highest standards of quality, ergonomics, and therapeutic efficacy. A variety of designs and materials enable applications that range from gentle to intensive, making them suitable for a variety of everyday clinical situations.

No secret codes: the number in the transmitter’s name indicates the diameter in millimetres.

The flexibility of the various transmitters allows me to optimally adapt the radial shock wave to each affected area.

Radial transmitters for local application to tendon insertions and trigger points

In local radial shock wave therapy, the energy is applied specifically to tendon insertions and painful trigger points. The treatment is based on clinical findings, individual pain perception and patient feedback.

By adjusting the angle of application, the shock wave can be precisely aligned with the affected structure. The choice of transmitter depends on the area of the body, the depth of penetration and the desired intensity. Different materials allow for gentle or intense applications as needed, enabling precise therapy tailored to various tissue structures.

ATLAS-Applikator/CC »Comfort Care«

ATLAS transmitter/CC »Comfort Care« – precision for highly sensitive and bone-adjacent areas (according to Di Maio/Swart)

This soft silicone transmitter has been specially developed for use in highly sensitive areas close to bone. Typical areas of application include the temporomandibular joint, the cervical spine (C-spine), the atlas, and the finger and wrist joints.

I can treat the facet joints of the cervical spine and the atlas with the CC, the origin of the plantar fascia with the DI15 and the patellar tendon with the R15. The right transmitter is available for different musculoskeletal applications.

Stephan Swart

F15 »White Soft«

F15 »White Soft« – Gentle precision for sensitive areas

For sensitive areas such as masticatory muscles or pain points close to the surface. The soft plastic material transmits impulses evenly and gently to the tissue, even in reactive treatment areas.

R15 »Basic Energy«

R15 »Basic Energy« – Versatile standard for tendons and trigger points

Universal standard transmitter for tendon insertions and trigger points. Ideal for smaller muscle groups or superficial regions. It covers a wide range of applications and is highly versatile.

C15 »CERAma-x®«

C15 »CERAma-x®« – Ceramic transmitter with high patient acceptance

The ceramic surface ensures concentrated and intense pulse transmission. Despite its high energy output, the treatment remains comfortable for many patients, especially with frequent use or on sensitive tissue.

DI15 »Deep Impact®«

DI15 »Deep Impact®« – Intensive treatment for robust structures

With its pronounced energy output and increased penetration depth, this transmitter is designed for deeper tissue layers. It is particularly suitable for patients who are physically active and for structures that are less sensitive to pain, where high-intensity stimulation is desired.

Myofascial treatment along muscle structures

Myofascial shock wave treatment is applied over a broad area along the muscle fibres and trigger points. The D-ACTOR® transmitters are ideal for this purpose, as they allow for variable intensity and gentle surface treatment.

The D-ACTOR® transmitters are a key tool for around 80% of my daily work, allowing intuitive recognition of pain patterns, which is crucial for structured and reproducible treatment.

D20-S »Basic Oscillator« – Broad-area treatment in regions with abundant soft tissue

For broad-area treatment along muscle fibres and localised trigger point treatment. For uniform and tissue-targeted application, particularly on larger muscles, without involving bones.

D20-T »Golden Oscillator«

D20-T »Golden Oscillator« – Intensive myofascial treatment for structures insensitive to pain

A high-energy, high-intensity transmitter designed for broad-area myofascial treatment along muscle fibres and targeted trigger point treatment. Ideal for athletes and structures insensitive to pain.

Fascia-targeted application with PERI-ACTOR® transmitters

The PERI-ACTOR® series (based on Di Maio/Swart) was developed specifically for fascial mobilisation and the treatment of myofascial chains. Depending on the technique and treatment objective, the transmitters allow for broad, localised, or structure-oriented application, such as along bone edges, on fascial lines, or for targeted fascial mobilisation – even in areas that are anatomically difficult to reach.

PERI-ACTOR® »scraper«

For comprehensive fascial treatment of the entire musculoskeletal system.

PERI-ACTOR® »knuckle«

PERI-ACTOR® »knuckle«

Ideal for small to medium-sized fascial areas.

PERI-ACTOR® »sphere«

PERI-ACTOR® »sphere«

Targeted application on sensitive fascial points.

PERI-ACTOR® »scoop«

PERI-ACTOR® »scoop«

Designed for bony edges and hard-to-reach structures.

Treatment of the paravertebral musculature with SPINE-ACTOR® transmitters

The SPINE-ACTOR transmitters have been developed for use on the paravertebral musculature, tailored to the anatomical conditions and the therapeutic focus. They come in different span widths, adapted to cover the entire spine – from the lumbar region through the thoracic region to the cervical region.
